The Grandmother's kitchen: His soul is still in a kitchen in the Treme. He carries the sensory ghost of chicory coffee and the crackle of Sunday morning radio—a reminder of a world that was simple and safe.

His most prized possession is a steel pocket lighter. It is a marvel of machining—the tolerances are so tight and the flick of the flame so consistent that it seems to defy the manufacturing capabilities of the 1920s. He treats it like a holy relic of "Perfect Engineering."

In his neighborhood, Remy isn't a criminal; he’s the Prop. When a roof leaks, a table is empty, or a debt collector gets too aggressive, Remy is the one who appears. He provides for his community with the same quiet, mechanical precision he uses to run his business.
